Passage 12

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

In good company, non-attachment; in non-attachment, freedom from delusion; in freedom from delusion, the unmoving principle; in the unmoving principle, liberation in this life:

they said. There must be satsaṅga. Through it good feelings, good qualities, good thoughts, good deeds and good reflections begin in us. That is why ‘Bhaja sādhu samāgamam’: we must join with the good. What is the third? ‘Kuru puṇyam ahorātram’: one must go on doing merit without a break. What is this merit? Is it merit that has to do with helping others? Or is it charity and good works? These are worldly kinds of merit! But what is true merit? Paropakāra. Para, then upakara. Para: the Ātma. Upa: near; kara: go. What goes near to the Ātma is paropakāra. That is true paropakāra. ‘Kuru puṇyam ahorātram’: be with God without a break. Live with GOD. Be with GOD. Do with GOD. See with GOD. Think with GOD. Everything is with God. All must be with the feeling of God. This is true paropakāra. Whatever work one does, night and day, one must keep God in mind. This good work then turns into God's work. We must spend our lives with such sacred feelings. Now, what is the fourth? What ought to be in humanness, in daily life, man neither experiences nor practises. ‘Nityam anityatāṃ’: one must come to know what is lasting and what is passing. What is permanent? All these are only clouds driven by the wind. Our happiness, sorrow, joy and delight are all clouds that drift away! However many clouds drift past, the sun stays just as it is. In the same way we must see that our Buddhi does not change.

Whatever work you do, regard it as God's work

It is through the Buddhi that humanness turns into divinity. Such a one they call a man of Buddhi. Only, we must see that this Buddhi does not eat grass. It does not matter if the mind changes. Mind is a mad monkey, body is like a water bubble. Don’t follow the body, don’t follow the mind, follow the conscience. That is the principle of the Buddhi. We must follow it.
