In plain words

If you think of just taking big, big degrees, nothing comes of it. They go off to foreign countries. If they get no jobs, they end up washing cups in hotels. There, whether they wash cups or sweep the streets, there is no one to see anything. In our own home we are ashamed to wash the tiffin plates we ate from. Why be ashamed? What shame is there in washing the plates we ate from? By going after such show, we ourselves are wearing away the sacredness of our Bhārata.

Today only men in form are seen; men in conduct are not to be seen

‘This is my motherland; this is my beloved mother tongue; this is my faith’: so, unable to proclaim it, beating the breast, is there one living soul on earth who has lived?

As much as love of the body matters, so much love of country there must be too. But because it is our country, we must not look on another's country with ridicule, nor fall into abusing it. ‘May all the worlds be happy.’ Everyone must be well. Śrī Rāma said this. After Rāvaṇa was slain, when He set about crowning Vibhīṣaṇa, Sugrīva, Jāmbavanta, Aṅgada, all of them came together: ‘Rāma! Rāvaṇa is gone now. It would be good if You Yourself were crowned in this golden city, would it not?’ they said. At last Lakṣmaṇa too said: ‘Even if we go back to Ayodhyā now, Bharata is ruling the kingdom. We are not kings. So stay here and make Laṅkā holy.’ Then Rāma said: ‘Jananī janmabhūmiśca svargādapi garīyasi. Because My mother is ugly, because My mother is not beautiful, because someone else is beautiful and strong, is it possible to call her your mother? Ugly though she is, My mother is My mother!’
