Passage 2

In plain words

She who brought her lifeless husband back to life, was Sāvitrī not a wife of Bhārata? she who quenched the forest fire by the power of her truth, was Candramatī not a holy woman? she who leapt into the fire-pit for the honour of a faithful wife, was Sītā not a daughter of the soil of Bhārata? she who in her wrath burnt the arrogant hunter to ashes, was Damayantī not a woman of Bhārata? Over the earth girdled by the seven seas, the race of Bhārata is spotless in its faithfulness; this is a great harvest-field for the wealth of feeling; is it not the teacher of every land!

The people of Bhārata, who have such strength and ability, are today giving in to petty things. The vision of the people of Bhārata has gone bad; their hearing and their conduct too have turned to poison. As a result, the people of Bhārata are losing their own good fortune. “As the elephant does not know its own strength, so have our people of Bhārata become today!” If an elephant strikes with its tail, a man falls nine feet away. Even an elephant as strong as that submits to its mahout: when he tells it to sit, it sits, and when he tells it to rise, it rises. In just the same way, the people of Bhārata today, unable to recognise their own purity, strength and ability, listen to what outsiders tell them and become their slaves.

Satya and Dharma alone are the property of the people of Bhārata

The people of Bhārata came forth with Satya, Dharma, Śānti and Prema. Truly, in all the world there are none to be found who can conquer the people of Bhārata.
