In plain words
If even a small pain comes, he cannot bear it. If he is transferred from one place to another, he takes fright; if his child falls ill at all, he takes fright. The cause of all this is nothing but the education of today!
This modern education concerns only the outer world. With its help one can earn money and fill one's belly; one can provide suitable comforts for the body, which does not last; but no Śānti comes to the mind. Through wealth one may gain worldly pleasures, but one cannot experience spiritual Ānanda. Man can experience happiness and Śānti only in what is spiritual. “Without bhajan there is no happiness, no Śānti …” Happiness and Śānti come to us only through singing the praise of God; they do not come from wealth or from worldly ‘education’. “Why study and study and study, only to die? One must learn the learning that knows no death.”
Having read every kind of learning and grown very clever, the dull-witted man does not know himself in his heart; however much he studies, whatever code he keeps, the base man cannot give up his bad qualities.
What use is it, however long one studies such learning? Man today has let go of the human qualities called Satya, Dharma, Śānti, Prema and Ahiṃsā, and lives by the animal qualities called kāma, krodha, lobha, moha, mada and mātsarya. That is precisely why, whoever you look at, however much wealth they have, they have no happiness or Śānti. If man is to experience happiness and Śānti, first of all there is a need to give priority to ‘Educare’.
‘Educare’ means nothing but bringing out the natural feelings that are within us! Through it we become happy in full measure. Today there are any number of colleges in the world; so many professors, so many with a Ph.D.
