Passage 3

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

You cannot move about, your eyes are dim, your face is full of wrinkles, your hair has turned grey; 'An old monkey!' the little ones call you, giggling; O you who snap at them, tai tai taitai tai, puppet, look at the fun of it, puppet of Māyā!

What can you do then? At this age, while the body is firm, the senses mighty and the mind filled with full faith, while all these are sturdy, you must offer this flower of the mind to God. You must offer such a sweet heart of yours to God. This is the offering that must be made. But today we do not make such an offering. After all the senses have had their enjoyment, offering to God the dishes left over, unwanted. 'Popped-rice flour gone with the wind: an offering to Kṛṣṇa!' he said, so the story goes. Once the power of the senses has broken down, once the power of the senses has grown weak, what will you give to God? You must render true service to God while all these, the power of the senses, the power of Manas, the power of Buddhi, the power of Jñāna, are still there. If at this very good time you lose your powers, what is there for the offering to God

Students! First of all, this age is divine. It is new. You must regard it as a holy age. Once old age has come, it will not go in at all. At first a man walks on four legs. Later he walks on three legs. Not with four legs at the start, nor with three at the end: while we walk on two legs, that is when we must worship God. What does four legs mean? Crawling with hands and legs. The two feet are on the ground. The body is above. All the powers of your life rest on the two feet alone. One is Satya, the second is Dharma. While you walk on the feet of Satya and Dharma, you must contemplate the One whose form is Satya. Only when you stand on the feet that are the form of Dharma must you contemplate the One whose form is Dharma. The third leg comes. He cannot walk. Satya and Dharma have grown weak. There is not even the courage to hold a stick. What can you do at such a time? We must think of this age as a divine age. We must not waste even a single moment. Time is God. Time waste is life waste. Dont waste time.
