In plain words
I am striving to give you your own Ānanda. Many people say happy birthday when a birthday comes. Say happy to one who has no happy. I am always happy. So there is no need to say happy. You must make Ānanda grow within yourselves, by yourselves. Be happy. Do not try to hand it on to someone else. We must first of all try to recognise Ānanda of this kind. This Ānanda is not found in any object. It is not gained through any deed. It is not gained through any sādhanas. We do not gain it on any kind of path. Only through Prema for God is this Ānanda gained. In that Prema itself everything arises. For the one who has loved God there is never any ruin. A boy said just that.
There are those who came to ruin by not believing, but in this world there are none, none, none who came to ruin by believing.
Simply through not believing, men fall into so many troubles. If you do not believe in God, let that be; at least you must believe in yourself, mustn't you? Man today is in a state where he cannot believe in himself. Then from where will Ānanda come to him? From which post will it come? From which telegram will it come? From which relatives will it come? Nothing at all. This Ānanda must arise from oneself alone. For this Ānanda we must develop the principle of Prema. If we have Prema alone, there is nothing we cannot attain. Every thing is there. Such Prema we have forgotten today. We chase after a Prema that is worldly, physical, of Prakṛti. All this is only the mark of pravṛtti. True Prema is only the mark of nivṛtti. It is from nivṛtti alone that this love arises. It must be offered to God. How must it be offered?
Attain Śaraṇāgati
The heart You gave me, O Lord, that very heart I offer back for the worship of Your feet; what else, truly, could I bring for the worship of Your feet? I join my palms to You; accept it, Lord.
