Passage 6

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Only when the current called spiritual education enters it can we receive light.

The principle that is the root and base

The positive power called divinity is in all. But the man of today forgets the positive and gathers the negative into himself in greater measure. Being born, growing, dying …. All these are negative traits.

The Eternal, who has no death and no birth: He is free of middle and end, the One without beginning; He is not born, does not die, is not slain; everywhere He shines, the onlooker of all.

This spiritual principle alone is the root and base of everything. This Fundamental Knowledge is greater than all other knowledge. In this alone the infinite spiritual principle is contained. Everything emerges from this alone. So first of all we must acquire Fundamental Knowledge. We must lead our life with Ṛta as its base. We must let go of the delusion of the body. A mother of forty years has a son of fifteen. The mother died. Then the son, “Mother! Have you gone and left me?” he weeps. If we enquire here, who has left him? The body he took all this time for his mother is right there before his eyes! Then why does he say, “Have you gone and left me?” So that body is not his mother. What left that body? The life-breath. So the life-breath itself is his mother. The life-breath has no death. The body is like a garment we have put on.

Jesus said: Death is the dress of life. It keeps on changing. Within, there is one thing that is the base of all. We must teach the students the learning that belongs to that root principle. We must not lead our lives with the body alone as our target.
