Passage 9

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

The eternal One who has neither death nor birth, without beginning, middle or end, the beginningless One; He neither dies nor is born nor is slain, but, Himself become all, shines forth and abides.

Divinity has no birth and death. Every human being must live with the courage and faith that say, “I am God; death and birth belong only to the body, not to me.” As long as the body lasts, one must offer one's Prema to God alone.

For many today, money itself is God!

Once a rich man came to Bābā in Shirdi. His pockets were full of currency notes. Wishing to test him, Bābā turned to a man named Shyām, who was always by his side: “Shyām! I need five rupees urgently. Go into the village, ask the Patel and bring it,” he told him. Shyām came back after a little while and said that the Patel was not at home. Bābā sent him to someone else. The rich man with his pockets full of notes was right there. But he was a great miser. When Bābā was asking for five rupees: “Swami! Take it,” he could have said, and taken it out of his pocket and given it, could he not! But there was no spirit of giving in him at all. Then Bābā counselled him first of all to give up his miserliness. For many, money is God, politics is God, parties are God. After death, will any of these go along with you? Why are you living? What are you achieving? Did you take a human birth to spend your life in impurity? Shame, shame! Do not waste your life this way. Help others as far as you are able. What is the cause of the impurity in the world today? Politics, and nothing else! Even a small child's mind is turning impure. Quarrels are springing up even between husband and wife. Wherever one looks, impurity has spread. Before independence came, there were not so many troubles. In those days the white people kept on oppressing the dark people. But today dark people themselves oppress dark people.
