Passage 12

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

It is those clouds of Prema that shed rain and quench thirst. Clouds of wind cannot cool our heat in the least. You must live with the principle of Prema. You must lead a life of Prema. This is the chief worship of Christmas.

God has neither death nor birth. He has no change of any kind.

The Eternal One, who has neither death nor birth, without beginning, middle or end, the One who has no beginning, Himself not dying, not born, not slain, abides everywhere as the witness of all.

But man, made of death and birth, holds to a form that is not lasting. He tries to bring God down to his own level and worship Him. This is the worship of God with form. But we must begin with the worship of God with form and reach the formless, eternal Satya.

Unity in diversity is found in Prasanthi Nilayam alone

Embodiments of the divine Ātma! Today Christmas is being celebrated in many places in the world. But a Christmas festival like the one held in Prasanthi Nilayam takes place nowhere in the world. In the birthplace where Christ was born, in Rome, there too they hold worship in the churches. That night, all night long, they spend drinking and dancing in revelry; in this way they waste all the time. But people gathered from all countries, people of every creed, all as one from early morning until night, making the time worthwhile with the divine feeling of God and with the Name: this happens in Prasanthi Nilayam alone! From children to the old, from Catholics to Protestants, from unbelievers to believers, from believers on to those who both believe and do not believe, all gather as one and keep the Christmas festival as a holy day, and show it forth as a sign of the doctrine of Advaita.
