Passage 8

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Without cotton there is no cloth. Without silver there is no tumbler. In the same way, without God there is no man, and no world at all. You take form to be the foundation. But form is bound to change some day! Do not regard the body, which changes, as true. Regard as true the divinity that is the indweller.

The Eternal One, who has neither death nor birth, without beginning, middle or end, the One who has no beginning, Himself not born, not dying, not slain, shines everywhere as the form of the Ātma!

Recognise this truth. Recognise that human birth is rare. Your heart must be tender, and your mind sweet. But you turn the sweet mind towards sense objects and make it full of poison; you change the tender heart into a hard one; you waste precious time. Time is the form of God. That is why people pray to God, “Kālāya namaḥ, kālakālāya namaḥ ....” So do not waste time. The body is not lasting. It grows along with time. Along with time it wanes.

Soon the people of all countries will become one

Embodiments of Prema! Today you regard this as a very sacred day. “Yad bhāvaṃ tad bhavati”: the result changes only according to your feelings. This year 2000 is not bad in the least. It will hold out a very high ideal; it will make known the divine principle of God. It will bring about unity. In a very short time the people of all countries will become one. Today America, Russia, Japan, China, Pakistan and India each stand apart. All these will soon attain unity. Those whom people think our enemies will turn into our dearest friends. So no one is our enemy, and no one is our foe. All are brothers, all are sisters!

You will see the brotherhood of man and the fatherhood of God in a very short time. For that, all of you pray with a pure heart.
