In plain words
You do not try to make even one mother happy. Make your mother happy, and Swami will be happy. Swami needs nothing. Many keep writing in many ways, 'Happy birthday'. You are crazy. You may say happy to those who have no happy. I am always happy. Why should you say Happy? Say it to your mother, say it to your father: Happy birthday. Because they are caught in many tangles and many problems and are sunk in unrest. Out of fondness for their sons, for the progress of their sons, for the progress of their children, they are sunk in many problems. Say happy to such people. Say happy to your friends. Say happy to your relatives. You need not say happy to God. God is always the very embodiment of Ānanda.
Eternal Ānanda, giver of supreme happiness, absolute, the embodiment of Jñāna, beyond the pairs of opposites, like the sky, the goal of 'Tat tvam asi' and the like, one, eternal, pure, unmoving, witness of every mind, beyond all feeling, free of the three guṇas:
for God, who is such, there is always Ānanda. In Himself are all joys. So I tell the children now and then, "Where is happy? Happiness is union with God." Join yourselves to God alone. Honour your parents. Only then does God feel Ānanda. I ask nothing of you. There is no need for Me to ask. I need nothing. Be happy yourselves and make your parents happy; that itself is My Ānanda. First of all, honour your mother. Love your father. Honour your father. Keep both of them in your heart and satisfy them with worship. If your parents are satisfied, you will surely be content all your life. Then God Himself will come into your hands. You need not call God. When you walk in good conduct, God Himself will come running to you.
