Passage 15

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

All are none other than embodiments of God. The shapes are different, but the Ātma remains one and the same. Here is a bulb. There is a bulb, and over there are bulbs everywhere. The bulbs look different from one another. But the current in all of them is one and the same. We must recognise that truth well. Then no differences of any kind arise for us. So I hope you will grow the Prema principle that leads to oneness. God is the embodiment of Prema. Nothing but Prema is needed. Anything else that stands apart, each on its own, takes shape as guṇas. God is without guṇas.

Eternal Ānanda, the giver of supreme happiness, Jñāna itself in form, beyond the pairs of opposites, like the sky, the aim of Tattvamasi and the rest, one, eternal, spotless, unmoving, the witness of every mind, beyond feeling, free of the three guṇas: to that Sadguru I bow.

For One who has no guṇas, why should we set up this and that? Prema is not a guṇa; it is svabhāva.

‘Sva’bhāva: the very feeling of the Ātma is Prema. So taking all these under the guṇas: one who has Satya, one who has Dharma, one who has Śānti: all these are guṇas. Of all these, Prema alone is paramount. Speak with Prema. That itself becomes Satya. Do your work with Prema: that itself becomes Dharma. Contemplate in your heart with Prema: that itself becomes Śānti. By Prema, make Prema itself shine: all becomes nothing but Prema. So what is in everything, like current, is Prema itself. So when every man develops such Prema day by day, there will be no hatred in this world, no anger of any kind, no unrest at all.
