Passage 7

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Prema alone protects and sustains us!

Many things go on happening in the world. Whatever happens, God always remains the witness. Even while you weep, God keeps smiling. And while you laugh, God goes on smiling too. For God there is no such thing as sorrow, trouble or grief. God brings no one any trouble, any loss.

Eternal Ānanda, giver of supreme happiness, absolute, wisdom embodied, beyond the pairs of opposites, like the sky, the goal of ‘Tat tvam asi’ and the rest, one, eternal, pure, unmoving, witness of every mind, beyond all feeling, free of the three guṇas......

God is beyond the guṇas. All your delusions are formed by the guṇas.

Embodiments of Prema! You perform so many pūjās, vratas and vows, japa and tapas, yajñas and yāgas. But none of these protects you or sustains you. What sustains you and protects you is one thing only, and that is Prema, Prema, Prema! If we have Prema alone, we shall conquer the whole world. Do not pray with the feeling that God is separate from you; pray with the firm faith that He is within you. Only when you develop self-confidence does self-satisfaction come. Only when self-satisfaction comes does it become possible to sacrifice selfishness. Only after that does man attain Self-realisation. What is Self-realisation? It is knowing oneself! If man, without knowing who he himself is, ‘Who are you? Who are you?’, keeps questioning others like this, what is the use? ‘Who am I? Who am I?’: ask yourselves this. That is very good. Does ‘I’ mean the body? Manas? Buddhi? Citta? No, no. You say, ‘This is my body.’ So the ‘I’ is one thing and the body another. That ‘I’ itself is the Ātma. All of you are the very embodiments of the Ātma! The very embodiments of God! You take names merely for identification, but what is in everyone is the one Ātma alone.
