In plain words

Renowned across the continents, the motherland that gave birth to great souls; that drove the Western warriors out and won its freedom, a land of battle; that gained great fame for its learning and showed its genius, the land of Bharata; in music, in letters and in the sciences the divine land that showed the power of its mind; wondrous in its art of painting: born in this land of Bharata, to keep safe Mother Bharata's wealth of Dharma the whole duty is yours, O devotees!

Embodiments of the divine Ātma! In life, health itself is the greatest fortune. Only when a man is healthy can he do any work at all. However much wealth he has, however much virtue, without health it is of no use. That is why, from ancient times, the great souls, yogis and learned minds of Bhārata have carried out much research on the subject of guarding health. Many ṛṣis too did their share of the work, with the aim of guarding the people's health, bringing them happiness and giving the world peace and security. Today some think that allopathy (English medicine) is very necessary for man. Others believe that not only allopathy but Āyurveda too is essential. But allopathy removes a disease only for a time; it cannot remove it for good. Āyurveda, though, has the power to remove disease for good.
