In plain words
When they set the disabled children on those tricycles and took them along, I felt very sad. They are embodiments of God. People regard such embodiments of God as lowly and treat them with contempt. In truth, there are no lowly people to be seen anywhere in the world. That lowly quality is in us alone.
God is beyond all qualities. He has one quality, just one. Prema alone is His quality. Prema alone is His form. When anyone speaks with Prema, I cannot say how much joy it gives Me. I do not like to be described without that Prema. So greet Me with Prema. I answer every word spoken with Prema that very instant. Call ‘Sai!’ with Prema; I answer, ‘Here I am!’ A call without Prema cannot move Me in the least. If you greet Me with Prema, I will answer at any time. There is no other life greater than Prema. So whether we wish to see God or to experience Him, it is possible through Prema alone. Look with Prema alone. Greet with Prema alone. However great your wealth, however great your virtue, they are no match for Prema. The sweetness held in the two syllables of ‘Prema’ is to be found nowhere else. So give Prema the first place. Wherever you go, Prema alone will protect you.
Whether in the forest or up in the sky, whether in a town or in a village, whether on a hilltop or in midstream, for the one who loves, Prema alone is the refuge.
Earn such Prema. This Prema is gained when you give your heart; it is not gained when you give money. Prema itself is true Bhakti. ‘Devotion’ without Prema: that is no ‘devotion’ at all. It is a ‘deep ocean’. What is that ‘ocean’ like? It is filled with salt water. But ‘devotion’ is filled with ‘sweet water’. That is to say, this Prema is made of nectar. This Prema is made of Ānanda. To give up such sacred Prema and long for worldly loves is madness!
