Passage 2

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Its hands and feet are everywhere, everywhere Its eyes, heads and faces; everywhere in the world Its ears; It abides, enfolding all.

So there is no dividing them, saying, ‘God is one thing, Prakṛti another.’ ‘This is worthy of love.’ ‘That is not worthy of love’: no one has the authority to make such a decision. Prema is God Himself; God is Prema itself. The name ‘God’ is heard, but the form is not seen. But when we take up an unwavering resolve to behold God, Prema takes on a form and manifests itself. Divinity is present equally in all things. That being so, how can we decide, ‘This one is a form of God, that one is not’! Prema is in all of you. So every one of you is indeed an embodiment of God! What is the principle of Prema like? Prema cannot be described in words. You can experience it and rejoice in it. So we may say, ‘Ānanda itself is the form of Prema.’ Prema is in every human being. But each person uses it in a different way.

The principle of Prema is present not only in man but in every living being. In every living creature there is ‘divinity’. The principle of Prema lies contained in ‘divinity’ itself. But man today forgets ‘divinity’ and nurtures ‘enmity’. Only when we put down ‘enmity’, experience Prema, rejoice in it and share it with all, can we attain Divinity. In this world, apart from Prema alone, all else is bound to change! The path of Prema alone is the path that is eternal Satya. Prema that is eternal Satya is seen only in Divinity. Divinity manifests in oneness alone. We imagine many names and forms for Divinity and worship it. But in truth Divinity is beyond names and forms.

‘Daivaṃ mānuṣa rūpeṇa’

‘Sarvataḥ pāṇi pādaṃ ....’ What name can we give to Divinity such as this? However many names we give, the principle of Prema does not change. ‘The ornaments are different; the gold is one and the same.’ Where did the gold come from?
