In plain words
Taking to a coarseness that has no fear of sin, taking to a road that has no love of God, humanness has sunk low in human beings; what ill fortune could be greater than this?
Today the sacred feelings found among village folk, who have never known studies of any kind, are nowhere to be seen in the educated people who have studied and live in the towns. Even the moral rules kept by the hill tribes and the Koyas are not to be seen in the educated people of today. Wherever schools, universities, courts and government offices have multiplied, there injustice, wrongdoing and misconduct are on the increase. It is among the village people who have no courts, offices or schools that morality and honesty shine, more or less. So what fruit has come of this growth of education? Forgetting humanness itself, we are only fostering the animal in us. We long to roam as we please. We toil for the pleasures of the senses. Unable to win peace of mind, we are drifting very far from it. But the places where the students are, the educational institutions that should be bright and lively with peace and security, are today rotting, wilting and collapsing in fear and panic. What is the special worth of this education? The highest mark of education is to bring the learning we have gained into harmony with society and to offer an ideal life along the proper path. Not only this: further and further, this education is drawing people into corrupt ways of many kinds.
Today Science and Technology are growing as much as anyone could wish. Within this system of education, science is going further beyond all bounds. It is quite true that this science has developed knowledge in society. But the harm this kind of knowledge has done us looks greater than the good. What this technology and science give man is more sorrow than happiness. They leave no room at all for real peace and security to be enjoyed in human life. Today, in science, videos and radios have multiplied. Cinemas and aeroplanes have multiplied. Televisions and many other visions have multiplied. But divine vision is nowhere to be seen. Because of this, man's daily life appears still more of a burden. Human life is bound up with great expense. This technology and science is driving man away from peace of mind. Even in man's bodily condition it is causing decline day by day, and bringing nothing but weakness.
