In plain words
Today, wherever one looks in the world, unrest and bad ways are to be seen. And as for young women and men, their case need not even be told. In such a state our Sai Youth must stand as an ideal to the world. In ancient times, in Bhārata, many women and men won great renown by spreading and teaching about divinity. But in the ages between, such sacred conduct dwindled. Only through students who have Bhakti and faith, humility and obedience can the country progress. Love of God, fear of sin, morality in society: you must develop these three.
Through a boorishness that has no fear of sin, through having no love of God, humanness has sunk low in human beings; this is the upheaval against world peace.
Today fear of sin has dwindled and love of sin has grown. Nobody understands what devotion to God is. To love God, that itself is devotion to God. Morality and discipline are the chief limbs of a human being. Today, the more science advances, the further humanness sinks. What is this science? What greatness is there in it? Science should help the progress of society, not the making of destructive bombs. This universe is like a great tree. The one who sees only the branches and twigs of this tree is a Scientist; the one who sees the roots that are its foundation is a Saint. We must look at the roots; we must not go on looking only at the branches and twigs. That is, we must fix our sight on the principle of God, the foundation of this world. Where is God? Once, when Nārada went for the darśan of Mahāviṣṇu: ‘Swami! I am one who roams the three worlds, am I not! To report to you from time to time the good and bad that happen in this world, I need your permanent address,’ he said. Then Mahāviṣṇu said, “Madbhaktaḥ yatra gāyanti tatra tiṣṭhāmi Nārada!”
