In plain words
This Prema must be spread to the beasts, the birds and the animals as well. To grow such breadth: that itself is our culture.
Only when one sets aside this narrow outlook, develops a broad outlook, enjoys it oneself and shares it with all around, can this humanness turn into divinity. The Vedas set out in the culture of Bhārata say 'adveṣṭā sarva bhūtānāṃ': we must hate no one at all. What is the inner meaning of giving such a sacred teaching? So along with these studies, we must make the effort that is needed to recognise the culture of Bhārata and to practise it. You yourselves know what shape the world has taken in the humanness of today. Every single step a human being takes is straying from Dharma. In every single word Satya is slipping away. In every thought foresight is perishing. In every look Prema is dwindling. Ideas of progress are sinking to the bottom. Spirituality is becoming a thing to laugh at. Hatred of caste and creed alone keeps growing. Regional fanaticism, self-interest and one's own advantage have run wild and keep growing. The consciousness in man is growing cold. Every single resolve is taking the form of self-interest. What is the reason for all this? We do not inquire into the reason. We try to recognise only these discernments and indiscretions fashioned from what is seen.
Through the boorishness that has no fear of sin, through having no love for God, humanness has sunk low in human beings: this is the upheaval of the world's peace.
If an upheaval is happening in the world today, what is the reason? We have lost our fear of sin, our love for God and the morality of society. We live with no more than the humanness of a human shape, saying a human being is a human being. Through such humanness of shape alone they can do the world no good at all. One must grow into a human being of right conduct and right thinking. The state of things today is nothing but the danger that comes from the human being of mere shape, without right conduct and right thinking.
Students! Along with your studies, you must keep in view the faith of the country and the welfare of the country. From ancient times the Hindu tradition, 'lokāssamastā sukhino bhavantu', that all should be happy, is the very tradition of the people of Bhārata.
