Passage 6

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

We must use the five senses in the right way

So man today pays no heed at all to the heart. He talks as he pleases, just because he has a mouth. Because of that alone he falls into many troubles. He looks as he pleases, just because he has eyes. That is why, through this evil vision, many evil resolves come. Through these evil thoughts he enters into evil deeds. So what is the root cause of all these evils entering into us? Simply the lack of samyak dṛṣṭi. Simply the lack of samyak śravaṇam. Simply the lack of samyak karma. Simply the lack of samyak bhāvam. Simply the lack of samyak vāk. That is why:

See no evil, see what is good, Talk no evil, talk what is good Hear no evil, hear what is good Think no evil, think what is good Do no evil, do what is good This is the way to GOD.

To be rid of these five faults, we must purify the five senses. However many japas, yogas, dhyānas and yajñas you perform, if there is a fault in these five senses, all these are of no use. All these are external and belong to Prakṛti. This negative, however long it lasts, perishes in a while. The negative always brings only a passing honour. But the positive is in the seat of the heart, and that alone is eternal for us. This has been called the positive. How did the Veda put this?
