Passage 6

In plain words

Without Satya, Dharma, Prema and Śānti, all the learning you acquire is worth nothing; without Satya, Dharma, Prema and Śānti, charity and good works come to nothing; without Satya, Dharma, Prema and Śānti, the fruit of holding high office is nothing; without Satya, Dharma, Prema and Śānti, the gain of many good deeds is nothing. To hold up the mansion of our Sanātana Dharma these four qualities are the foundation walls, my dear. What more than this shall I make known, O members of this gathering, counted among the good and the virtuous!

Ours is a life lived between these four walls. Every dwelling must have four walls. Our life is the life lived between these four walls. Today the walls have fallen down. The house can no longer be lived in. We pass our lives merely in the shade of a tree, the shade of a rock. Is this humanness? Do the birds not live? Do the worms and insects not live? Do the fierce beasts not live? What bank balance do they keep? What mansions do they get built? None at all! The birds have no worry about what tomorrow will bring. But man goes on growing his 5 yrs plan, his 10 yrs plan, further still. Beasts and birds are happy from moment to moment

Struggling to fill a belly a span wide, learning a crore of arts with zeal, yet unable to gain full happiness, why should this human race pine away in sorrows? To devotees who meditate on the Supreme, will He not show the way, O man!
