In plain words

But sleep does not come. For what have we put all these in place? For the sake of sleep we made all these comforts. When sleep does not come, what use is there in having all these? In the same way, so that you may recognise your own svarūpa, God has given all these comforts: the Manas, Buddhi, citta and antaḥkaraṇa. Not only this; to give rest to the Manas He has given some sādhanas. These are the nine paths.

Listening, singing, remembering Viṣṇu, serving His feet, worship, salutation, service, friendship and the offering of the self.

What are all these for? So that you may recognise your own principle. Otherwise why the mattress, why this pillow, why the air conditioner? Having all these, if there is no sleep, they are a waste! Having the Manas, having Buddhi, having citta, having the antaḥkaraṇa, having Jñāna, if you cannot know yourself, all of it is a waste!

Everything in the World Is God's Creation

So only when we grasp the right inner meaning on the spiritual path do we understand what humanness is. ‘Jantūnāṃ narajanma durlabham,’ they said. What is so special in this? What merit is there in it. What is it that is so rare? ‘Āhāra-nidrā-bhaya-maithunāni’: all these, birds, beasts and animals have too. The same we too experience. Then what is the difference between birds, beasts and animals and man? There must be something great and special in human beings, must there not? There must be some distinction, must there not? Which human being is able to see that distinction? None at all. Rather, the life of birds, beasts and animals seems better. They have season and reason. Man has no season, no reason. Birds, beasts and animals eat as the moment comes, satisfy their hunger and live happily. But man not only eats as the moment comes; he heaps up food enough for a ten-year plan, and even so he has no Śānti. We need not search somewhere for God. Anil Kumar said, ‘I saw Swami in the crystal liṅga.’
