Passage 5

In plain words

But no one can paint the original that God created. Everything is wonderful and varied through God's will. ‘Wonderful, and sacred to the three worlds..’ The stories of Lord Viṣṇu are very sacred. We do not try to recognise such sacred stories, and keep dwelling all the time on unholy stories alone. What is the root cause of this? The root cause is that the Prema we should have for God is not in us.

Prema itself is the form of God

Every man must make sacred Prema grow within him. Prema itself is the form of God. Prema itself is the supreme Light. The very principle of the supreme Light is humanness. So we must not make our heart a desert without Prema. The Gopīs of that day went on praying for a heart full of Prema.

In deserts empty of Prema, that the shoots of Prema may grow, that with Prema's fervour a shower of Prema's nectar may rain down and rivers of Prema may flow, won't You play the flute, Kṛṣṇa, won't You sing!

In all the work man does, in all resolves, in all actions, we must keep Prema as the chief thread. The Prema of today is taking shape as mere selfish Prema. There is no way to find even a little Prema that is for others. All is full of Prema! The whole world is full of Prema! There is no man without Prema. But they turn that sacred Prema onto a different path, make it unholy, and fall prey to unrest. So we must set this Prema on the right path.

When man longs for God, he must develop selfless, pure Prema

Only this Prema and God are closely bound together. Towards worldly objects or persons, these are attachments, not Prema.
