In plain words
But each bulb is separate and distinct. Its voltage too is different. But in all of them it is one and the same current, isn't it!
The religions are many, but the path is one; the cloths differ, but the thread is one; the ornaments are many, but the gold is one; the colours of the cattle differ, but the milk is one; living creatures are many, but the life in them is one; the castes are many, but birth is one; the schools of thought are many, but God is one; the colours of the flowers differ, but the worship is one. Unable to know this, men have lost their wits and for the sake of a living are bound in many bonds. What more than this shall I make known, O members of this assembly, counted among the good and the virtuous!
Just because the bulbs are separate, the current is not separate. Every body too is just like a bulb. Their forms and names may differ. Their colours may differ. Their voltage may differ. But the current is one. In our bedroom we put in a dim bulb. In the drawing hall we put in a bright bulb. Then the current becomes more; the current becomes less: can one say that? In these two the current is one. There the voltage is low. Here it is high. In the same way, according to each one's lot, their attainment is a little greater. In them divinity becomes manifest. In those who lack that feeling it is dim, like a bedroom bulb. But in everyone divinity is one.
