In plain words
In Bhārata, the land supremely pure, forbearance itself is our beauty; bright above all the vows, the noble conduct of Satya is itself stern tapas; if you ask which feeling is sweet in our land, what is more worthy of honour than the feeling for the mother?
‘Bhārata is my mother. If my mother is poor, then surely I am poor too!’ This you must always keep in mind. ‘My mother is very great. My country is my motherland. I must guard that Mother Goddess with honour. It is this Bhārata that taught all the śāstras and Purāṇas to everyone and raised them up. The mother who bore us may be poor. But the motherland is not poor. The motherland is very great. In any land at all, Bhārata is one that has won great fame. I must not make such a sacred motherland small by comparing it, and dishonour it,’ so you must firmly resolve. The morality and integrity found in Bhārata are seen in no other country. There is no country at all in the world greater than Bhārata.
‘When the gold called Bhārata is ours, why go searching for silver and gold!’
Today we belittle Bhārata, which is like gold. All the educated people of today must shape Bhārata into a golden land. Unfortunately, today all those who have pursued great and lofty studies do not grasp this greatness. Bhārata has won great fame. Today in Bhārata many officials have grown used to bribes and are losing their good name and standing. Giving bribes and taking them: both are bad! In Bhārata no one at all should fall into such a bad habit.
