Passage 1

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

In the supremely sacred land of Bhārata, forbearance itself is our beauty; among all vows, the one that has gained lustre, a noble truthful character, is itself the hardest tapas. If you ask what is the sweetest feeling in our land, what is worthier of honour than the feeling for the mother? Honour itself is greater than life, says the code of our land; burning it to ashes, and, seeking out the codes of foreign lands, they have handed to the present day, swiftly, the naked sword called a strange freedom. Alas! What shall I say of the rule of Bhārata? Just as the elephant does not know its own strength, so have our Bhāratīyas become today.

Embodiments of Prema! No one is trying to taste the special excellence of Bhārat, its greatness and its sacredness. Of all cultures, Bhāratīya culture is the noblest, and most sacred. This culture reveals the divinity that pervades everywhere, from the atom to the immense. Yet today Bhāratīyas themselves forget such a sacred culture and waste their time following foreign cultures. Satya and Dharma are the foundation of Bhāratīya culture. Today they say that Satya and Dharma have both perished. That is a great mistake. One may say that, because they are not practised, they have been hidden to some extent. Beyond that, no one has the power to root them out.
