In plain words
But people today have forgotten their ideals. Sītā, Sāvitrī, Damayantī: all of them proved that woman is not the weak one, and that the divine power in her is very great. So we must not belittle women.
In the supremely holy land of Bhārata forbearance itself is our beauty; and if you ask what sweet feeling there is in our land, what is more worthy of honour than the feeling for the mother?
No love that surpasses a mother's love is to be seen in this world. Today they are forgetting such a mother's love. Only when we love the mother do we become people who have won a mighty power. Today they treat ‘parents’ like ‘servants’. Instead of taking in their aged parents with great love and looking after them properly, they are packing them off to old-age homes. They do not stop to think what fate will befall them tomorrow. If today you send your parents to an old-age home, tomorrow your children too will bring the same fate on you. ‘As the feeling is, so it becomes.’ Whatever you do, all of it comes back to you as ‘reflection’, ‘reaction’ and ‘resound’. Look after your mother with love. A mother's love itself wins you the love of all. If today you treat your mother as a ‘servant’, tomorrow your children will treat you like a ‘servant’. As the seed sown is, so the plant comes up. So we must foster sacred Prema. Only when we share out Prema today will the whole world love us tomorrow. We must not taint our Prema with selfishness and self-interest.
All bodies are like bulbs. God's divine power, the power of the Ātma, is like the current. Many lamps are burning here. For all these lamps, the current itself is the support. Switch off the one main switch, and all the lamps go out.
