In plain words

That is, who is he? Though he is himself, he tries to live leaning on some form and name. I am a boy. I am a girl. I am an old man. I am an old woman. Feelings and differences such as these belong to the body, and not to the Ātma, do they not? He says "I am a Brāhmin, I am a Śūdra," going by the body, but he does not give a thought to his bond with the Ātma. All these belong to the body alone.

The body is made of the five elements; the body must fall one day. He who dwells in the body is free of all ills; consider: for him there is no birth and death; nor the marks of the bonds that delusion ties; see the truth: this indweller is the God of gods, the very form of the Ātma, if you weigh it in your mind.

Because we forget the Ātma-principle in this body, we set out to live with the body alone as our chief goal. This is not the goal of education. It is not its special worth.

Students must recognise that education is for life, not for a living. Control of the senses is essential for students. When we ask ourselves the question, what is the essence of Education, the essence of education is concentration of mind, not collection of facts. We gather up the things that happen in the world, but we do not look at all into what comes out of us, or what is within us. We read only the newspapers, to learn what news is coming from which country in the world. Man cannot recognise his own good news, the news that comes from within us. We take as our goal only the news that brings harm. All these are passing, gone in a moment, momentary. If we read a news paper today, by tomorrow it is waste paper. Nobody reads the same paper the next day. We try once more to read a new paper. In the same way, we have been born as human beings once. And then we hope to be human again in this very birth. That is like reading the paper already read. That is waste paper. That must not be our taste. We must think about the future that is still to come.

Students! You must look into what is the root cause of the turmoil, the unrest, the wrongdoing, the unrighteousness and the Asatya that have spread through the world today. Old people keep thinking about their past. "In our childhood it was like this. When we were young it was like this. In our education time it was like this.
