In plain words
No... we do not put even a little into practice. If what is on the plate is to reach the stomach, you must set the mouth and the hand to work. The studies you have pursued, the skills you have learnt, the degrees you have taken: only when you put even one of them into practice will you understand its joy. What use is study that is not put into practice? Time is wasted. A waste of food, a burden on the earth. That is not what we must do. We must check, to some extent, the hold that today's conditions have on society. It is man's learning and understanding that give the strength and ability to set right the state of society today. To solve the problems that have flared up today, students alone are fit and able. Such able students are today becoming unable. Each to his own selfishness. Each to his own advantage. Living like beasts, they pass their days in self-interest. This is not the Dharma of our studies. Since humanness has come to us, we must hold out an ideal life. What ideal? The human ideal. Yesterday I said, What is the purpose of life? A dead rabbit has its price. But the human body has no value at all. Even sandals are given a place in the house. But a corpse is given no place in the house. Is this the value of man? No, no. Where have you come from? You must see your own svarūpa. You must reach your own home. That is what we must come to know. If we are to recognise this truth, divinity must arise within us. Not only arise: wherever we look, God alone must be there. The whole world is God! The whole world is Ānanda! There is no such thing as sorrow. In such a state, why do you suffer sorrow? Why do you suffer grief? Why do you sink into mean desires? Attachment to the body alone is the root cause of this. Men who should be attached to the Ātma are today turning into men attached to the body.
The body is made of the five elements; the body must fall, sooner or later; the dweller in the body is free of all ill; consider well: for the dweller there is no death or birth, no mark of the bonds of delusion's fetters; see the truth: that dweller is the God of gods; reflect in your mind: He is the Ātma Itself.
